What The Bro’s Base™ Consists Of

1. Proper Excavation

We excavate the area to the correct depth based on the project requirements to ensure long-term stability. No shortcuts. This sets the foundation for everything that follows.

We compact the native soil using a plate compactor to eliminate air pockets and reduce future settling.
A solid subgrade = a patio that won’t shift.

We install commercial-grade geotextile fabric over the compacted soil.
This:

  • Prevents soil migration
  • Separates dirt from stone
  • Reduces weed growth
  • Increases structural longevity

This is a step many contractors skip — we don’t.

We install 6 inches of clean quarry stone (free-draining stone).

Why clean stone?

  • Superior drainage
  • Reduces frost heave
  • Creates a stable interlocking foundation

Each layer is compacted thoroughly.

We install a 1–2 inch bedding layer of 1A chip stone.

This allows us to:

  • Precisely level the surface
  • Ensure tight paver interlock
  • Maintain proper pitch for drainage

No sand beds. No shortcuts.

Why The Bro’s Base™ Is Different

Why Choose Patio Bros Over Stamped Concrete or Cheap Paver Installs?

The Pain Points Homeowners Don’t Want to Talk About

You don’t want a patio that looks good for 6 months.
You want something that looks incredible 10+ years from now.

Stamped Concrete vs. A Properly Installed Paver Patio

❌ Stamped Concrete Problems
Detailed view of a large crack running through a weathered concrete slab indicating potential foundation damage.

Stamped concrete looks great at first… but:

  • It will crack (concrete is rigid)
  • Freeze/thaw cycles cause movement
  • Repairs are obvious and patchy
  • Color fades over time
  • One crack = permanent damage

Concrete fights the ground.
The ground always wins.

❌ Cheap Paver Install (Why Patios Sink)
Close-up of grass and weeds growing between concrete paver stones on a patio or walkway.
Sunken and uneven concrete pavers on a patio surface showing shifting stones and potential ground settling.

When corners are cut:

  • No proper excavation
  • No geotextile fabric
  • Base not compacted in lifts
  • Wrong stone used
  • Sand too thick

Result?

  • Sinking spots
  • Trip hazards
  • Water pooling
  • Edge failure
  • Weeds taking over

And now you’re paying twice.

The Patio Bros Difference – Built to Last

Long-Lasting Interlocking System

We install large-format grey pavers with bold dark borders for a clean, high-end finish — but what you don’t see underneath is what matters most.

With The Bro’s Base™, your patio:

  • Drains properly
  • Flexes with freeze/thaw cycles
  • Resists settling
  • Can be individually repaired if ever needed
  • Maintains its structural integrity for years

Unlike concrete, pavers are flexible.
Unlike cheap installs, our base is engineered.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

Because:

  • They don’t want to redo it in 5 years.
  • They don’t want cracks.
  • They don’t want sinking.
  • They don’t want stress.
  • They want it done right the first time.

We don’t compete on price.
We compete on longevity, craftsmanship, and peace of mind.
